Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Here's how we use them — kept simple.

We ask first

When you first arrive we ask whether we may count your visit. If you say no, or close the banner without answering, we don't count it. You can change your answer at any time at the bottom of this page, and changing it takes effect straight away.

What we use

• Necessary — the basics that make the site work. This includes remembering your answer to the question above, so we don't ask again on every page, and keeping you signed in if you work here.
• Measurement, if you agree — which pages get opened, whether you arrived from a search or a link, any campaign tag in the address, and whether you're on a phone or a computer.

How the measurement works

We run it ourselves, on our own server. Nothing about your visit is sent to an analytics company, and there is no third-party tracking code on this site.

We don't store your IP address. Our server turns it into a scrambled code that can't be turned back, and that code changes every day. It lets us tell one visit apart from another within a single day, and not beyond it. It is never connected to your name or your email — we don't have visitor accounts, so there's nothing to connect it to.

How long we keep it

We keep the detailed records for 60 days. After that only daily totals remain — how many people read a page on a given day — and those totals contain nothing that could identify anyone.

What we don't do

We don't use cookies to advertise to you, follow you around other websites, or sell your data. We don't build profiles of you.

Your choices

You can change your answer below, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the necessary ones may stop parts of the site from working.
